Application Error 3DS MAX 2023

Hi!

I have the following problem.

I have to make a character animation for my uni course.

Everything was ok but today for some reason 3ds max stopped working and showed me the message "application error" etc.

After closing the programm I cannot open the file anymore.

I made safety copies of the project before (sadly the latest was made yesterday so a lot of work would be gone).

I can open them without any problems.

I don't use any 3rd party plugins etc.

I just wanted to move the animation controller and then it crashed.

I hope you can help me 😕

PS: When I click "yes" for saving a backup of the project it shows another error!

Any time a file goes corrupt like this, the first thing you should try doing is opening a fresh scene in 3ds Max and do a File -> Merge to see if you can pull in the contents of the bad file.  If it still isn't working, you can try merging the file in pieces to see if you can track down a single object that is corrupting the file.

I already tried this one out. But if I merge all of my files at once it isn't working as well.

I will try to merge single files.

But I have one important question:

Will I keep my animations when merging my file?

Any animation of your objects should come in when merging.  Unless that's the part that is corrupting your scene, of course.  🙂

I did that but i managed to work on a previous version.

Everything was fine but then out of nowhere it crashed again. The only diffrence is that I can open the project again after it has crashed.

I can make animations with my CAT Rig. BUT for example when I click on "select and manipulate" and then don't even click anything it crashes again.

For better understanding: I have a few sliders for my character. They all have been working perfectly weeks a go till 2 days ago and I can't explain why this thing crashes all the time...
