how do you correct or adjust the angle or angles of objects ? example attached of 2 cylinder legs post mirrored  with image in rear .

Right click on the object and choose "rotate." You'll see the rotation gizmo. Click and drag on the correct axis indicator and the object will rotate. 

 

Now, you can change the position of the axis so it rotates from the point you want it to. But I'll leave that to you to look up in the documentation. It's easy to find. That way you'll get used to using the documentation. You'll need to get used to using it to progress with Max. Max is intuitive up to a level but quickly you'll get to where you can't proceed without reading.

 

But, this should get you started.

Finding tutorials on the basics of Max is not difficult. Google (3ds max modeling) it and use the documentation. If you don't figure out how to do it yourself, you will never master the program. It's very powerful but it's not easy to master. It takes a lot of time. I encourage you to be creative in searching for help. It will be necessary for your success.
