3ds max 2018 disabled on startup

Hi,

I just installed 3ds max 2018 on windows 10. Just after startup, I cannot click anything on the app, only windows "ding" sound when clicked on the app.

Any way to figure out what's causing this? It is similar to what happens when a modal popup hides behind the apps but I have tried several times with single and multiple monitors and running with NVIDIA gpu as well as integrated graphics, tried to run as admin too. None these steps have helped.

 

The applications goes dim on startup, not sure if that's supposed to happen.

Figured it out! The welcome screen, for some reason, is not visible. This makes the application non clickable.

To fix:

 - Open the 3dsMax.ini file

 - Search for [WelcomeScreen]
 - change ShowAtStartupExt=1 to ShowAtStartupExt=0

 - Save the file and launch 3ds max again.
