It seems to have disappeared or has been moved in 2017.
Does anyone know where it is, or am I going blind?

cycle through the F3 and F4 combinations to show/hide this wireframe in the newer verison they mite have changed it.
go to the viewport label LT or RT click and you will get a drop down menu you will see the wireframe check/ticked or uncheck/unticked
I know how to turn wireframe on and off - this isn't the problem I'm having.
When you select any object with or without the wireframe (coloured to the colour of the object), it turns the wireframe white. With no wireframe active, it shows the wireframe.
There was an option in 2016 to turn this off, it's gone.
I've just answer this question we are not always on this fourm we have jobs to do and lives to lead. i would get myself a 3ds max keyboard so it would be eaiser and you know what the options are with the 3ds max keyboard. the keyboard will have all the shortcuts what you need to know in max
maybe you need to be specific in your question we are not mind readers. and you shoudn't post your question without all the details then we won't speculate about your question
The problem is in the title of the thread.
It appears this has been moved or just removed completely. So if you want to see the model without the wireframe on it, you have to get out of subobject mode and completely deselect.
You mean this?
