sorting part list

Hi

I have a problem since I got a new license of inventor

If I create a drawing of a (sub) Assembly and then create the part list

→ Open drawing

→ Parts list

→ Click on the model/ or select from the folder

→ Ok

When I do this, the list floats under my mouse. I drag the list to the bottom corner and place it

when I have placed all the balloons, I want to sort the part list in numeric order of POS

→ double-click on list

→ elin8F3WG_0-1688970210380.png

→ sort by POS (I have already clicked all the buttons in this window, including the options under the arrows)

→apply

and then I get this

I have filtered balloon only on in this example. I already tried it without filter, but it still keeps sorting randomly.

If someone knows something about this, I would like to hear it.

Kind regards Elin

Not sure if this helps, but check if it's sorting numerically or by string:

Does it sort other columns properly?
Can you sort the BOM instead of the parts list properly?
If you can, could you use the ITEM column for your sorting?
(i'm assuming POS is a user property?)

in the drawing it does not sort any colom correctly
the Bomb sorts correctly but it is not possible to use im item

Strange, if the BOM sorts correctly the parts list should be able to sort the same.
You could try ruling out an error on the drawing by recreating it on a new drawing from a working template, but if that also doesn't work i'm not sure what could be going on.

It might be easier to figure out with a dataset, but if you can't share your drawing and assembly then you might have to take this to Autodesk directly...

Hi
I found the problem
when you insert a table, you have to change a clap output menu from structure to parts only
This drop down menu was greyed out for me
This is because you have to remove all balloons first before you can insert a new table.

So the problem was that it sorted by the assembly which contained the parts

Ah, ok, that is indeed a crucial step when moving between structured and parts only.
This wasn't apparent from your initial post but i'm glad you figured it out!
