There should be sample code in your Autocad install showing you how to either
launch Autocad (or connect to an open session).
I run Civil3D and the code is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCAD Civil
3D 2010\Sample\Civil 3D API\COM\VB_NET\VbDotNetClient (I would look for something
similar in the plain Autocad folder.
