I believe you already figured out that many automotive companies are now trying to use VRED for CGI workflow. It's complicated that we want to use our expensive clusters for heavier tasks than still images and real-time review. But animating in VRED is very limited. Especially for a complicated car running scene.
I know there's a 3rd party plugin solution from nVIZ. But if you can integrate similar functions for car rigging into VRED, well, we are not working for publishing level of output, even with some simple physics. It could save a lot of people.
