No studio lighting seen when first open VRED

Hi all.

my problem cannot be explained that easily, due to it occurring periodically.

The main issue is that when I first open up VRED there is no standard studio lighting shown on the start scene as previously when working correctly and when I do load a model into VRED it cannot be seen on the screen even though all layers are clearly visible in the Scene graph. there have been times when I have tried to open up VRED and it will work fine for a few minutes, then suddenly my model will vanish from the screen only leaving the Bounding box visible and this box is only visible when the Ray tracing is switched on. Most of the tools are still accessible but without the model being shown I cannot progress any further.

I have several screen grabs to show you of what I am experiencing at present.

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards

Jeff

What GPU and driver version are you running?

Hi Jeff,

what about OpenGL? Is it working? Any error messages in the VRED console?

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Many thanks for your quick reply!

You mentioned to open GL, could you give a bit more information on GL?

Thanks again for your help on this...

best regards

Hi again Marcus,

Just opened up VRED again and looked at help then GL Info, but nothing looks out of place, also there are no error messages anywhere.

I've been using this VRED software for a good 2 years and have had no probs with it until now.... Very strange. My model just vanished!

Would you just recommend downloading the new 2018 student version as I believe I still am able for another year or so?

Cheers

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your questions, but I have been running fine for around 2 years with this VRED version building models for my Portfolio to find jobs, so I don't believe it is a GPU or Driver issue, unless you know otherwise.

All has been good for 2 years then all of a sudden my model just Vanished!

Is there anything else you think it could be?

Best regards

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

maybe I got it wrong in the first place. So, neither OpenGL nor Raytracing rendering is working for you?

Is it only not working for one specific scene/model? And when I got you right, you always used one and the same VRED version?

You can try to install the latest VRED version, but then I would also recommend to update your graphics card driver.

Cheers,

Marcus

I thought it best just to download the 2018 version in the end and so far it is working great!

Hi Syed,

Thank you for your message and sorry for my delay, I've only just seen your message.

To answer your question, no I did not find a cure to my problem so I just downloaded the new 2018 version of VRED.

I would recommend doing the same, unless you know of another way now?

Kind regards

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

No problem. I faced the same issue in VRED 2018. But the culprit was
graphics driver. After i uninstalled the driver and reinstalled . All is
fine now. Thanks.

Regards,
Syed.
