Hi,

so first stept with VRED and VIVE...

The idea:  some objects have tough sensors which trigger some animations. This works fine in Open GL on Desktop.

The scene is open in the Vive and running fine, the controllers are visible and moving normal. Also the indication point on the trackpads of the controllers work.

Now I want to point with the green laser of the VIVE on the touch sensor to trigger the animation (as in desktop mode).

The Problem is, I don't have the laser in VRED coming out of the controller....  It seems all the buttons on the controllers have no funktion at all....

If I leave VRED and go e.g. into that Steam VR tutorial, the lasers and everything of the VIVE controllers work fine.

- How do I get the Lasers / Controllers working in VRED in the VIVE?????

- Is  possible at all to use the controllers the way I described in VRED?

thank a lot,

B

Hi,

to make it work with the vive controllers you need to create a python script, there is a VRED example in File -> Open examples->OpenVRExample.vpb

#To create and connect a controller:

controller0 = vrOpenVRController("Controller0")

controller0.connectSignal("triggerPressed", trigger0Pressed)
controller0.connectSignal("triggerReleased", trigger0Released)

#this function defines the axis of the laser, and makes it visible

def trigger0Pressed():
    controller0.setPickingAxis(0)
    controller0.showPickingAxis(true)

#This functions gets the node picked by the laser

def trigger0Released():

    pickedNode = controller0.pickNode()

# to trigger the touchSensor you can use: triggerTouchSensor(nameOfTheTouchSensor) , example of use:

def trigger0Released():

    pickedNode = controller0.pickNode()

    triggerTouchSensor(pickedNode.getName()+"_TouchSensor")

Ok, thanks... I'll try this.   I thought it would be that the laser just replaces the mouse...
