I want to share our HTC Vive experience with the community...wonder what others have experienced.
We bought the VIVE on the HTC webshop in November, delivered within 2 days, so far so good, but unfortunatly the thing never worked. Tried on multiple computers, spend hours, days with the HTC technical support but never got an image on the VIVE.
Now, after two months, we are fed up and have asked HTC to replace the VIVE but HTC claims not to be responsible for replacement because "their" webshop is not theirs but rather Digital River. So we have contacted Digital River for replacement but Digital River claims not to be responsible for replacement and points us back to HTC. An astonishing business model. The consequence: if your unlucky to get a defect VIVE, you have lost the money.
Consider befor you buy.
A little too late for you, but HTC has a business edition now that includes warranty and support. It's more money, but if you wanted something more supported than the consumer flavor, this appears to be the route to go.
I've read (but not experienced) that general support for the consumer VIVE is painful with long/infinite waits for replacement.
Now it is working!
Finally, after more than 2 months, we actually managed to get a senior support person from HTC on the phone who was able to tell us more than 50 different ways to try disconnecting and reconnecting all cables.
Some usefull infos here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-vr-ready-systems.html
Here is the solution now working for us:
_ Quadro M6000 24G
_ Driver version 372.95
_ Unplug all high-res monitors - only one HD monitor on a display port
_ Plug the VIVE on the DVI port
(Btw, both HTC and Digital River keep insisting not to be reponsible for replacements)
