Check if geometry is visible or not?

Hey!

I'm about to make a script which is automatically generating masks for every single material which is assigned to at least one geometry.

My question is:

Is there a way to check if a node (geometry) is visible to the camera or not? This would reduce rendertime a lot and would prevent fully black renderings. If a geometry is not visible to the camera i don't need a mask for it.

Thanks in advance!

Dennis

Not sure if that is possible before the render but you could run a script post render (image processing) to check your mask renders and if they return complete black in RGB to delete them so you don't load them when it comes to comping.
