Working with Laytrans

I work with many different Architects that use their own layer standards.

I'm using Laytrans to convert their layers to my standards. The problem I'm having is when I save a Laytrans template it overwrites the existing one.

 For example:

 Floor 1:

Wall internal - convert to Wall

Wall external - convert to Wall

      I then save this translator

Floor 2:

 Walls - convert to Wall

Now when I save the template it overwrites what I did for the floor 1 translations.

Is there anyway to make AutoCAD add to the translation, rather than overwrite it?

It's normal that one file overwrite another file in the same folder with the same name and extension if user confirmed overwrite the existing one..

Create ONE file with all layers, so it isn't a problem to create your layconv list.

Use DesignCenter to import layers

or insert all dwg as block

or insert all files as xref and bind(option bind) them.

Laytrans is a pretty useful tool. If I recall correctly, last time I did a lot of Laytrans efforts it worked best to load your translation file and then any new updates you make save them to the same file. That would allow you to essentially append them to your file, but you have to load them first so you have them. I'll dig into my notes and see if I can recall any other useful tips.
