Switching between Drawings

Is there an easier way to switch between open drawings in 2000 than going to
the Window pull-down. I can't seem to find it in Help and I've tried all
the combinations of F keys I can think of. I would create a new accelerator
key if knew what to tell it to do.

Thanks for your help.

Jack,

CTRL TAB might help especially if you have a few files open.

There are also some document managers available free but they take up
some screen space.

Ctrl+Tab will do this.

On my system that requires

Alt + W + Down arrow, then 1, 2 ,3........

That is also assuming there is no other pull downs that start with 'W'.

On my system it is Alt + W, then 1, 2, 3 ...
There should only be one pull down that is defined to use W in order for the
Alt + W to work.

Why not use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Tab+Shift as it will behave
the same on all systems, it can be used with 1 hand, it's
faster, and this same functionality exists in *most* MDI
applications?

Actually Word is the only application I've found that
doesn't do this. And MS has admitted this is a bug in Word
and that they are not going to fix it.

"Docbar" is my favorite way to switch between open documents. This is a
program from CADwerx that runs inside AutoCAD and creates a toolbar like
object which displays a preview image and filename of all open documents. I
like to locate my Docbar in the upper left hand corner of the screen, above
the menu bar, and just left of Windoze minimize/maximize/close button. It
doesn't take up any valuable screen space there. Freeware. 'Tip of the
O'hat to Byron Blattel @ CADwerx

Not that this is the Word NG, but Ctrl+Tab is the only way I know of to get a tab within a table cell.

Alt+W should work on all systems, if someone has changed the menu to have
more than one Alt+W then ehty need to change it.

>it can be used with 1 hand,

Alt + W is a one handed command, and reaching for 1,2,3, is with in very
easy reach

> it's faster,

If you have a large number of files open, then Alt + W , then a number, will
get you to the file you want very quickly, without having to page through
several files to get there. Using the file name will make sure you are in
the file you think you are in. If you are zoomed in on several drawings and
the Alt +Tab you can't be as sure you are in the drawing you hope you are
in.

Alt + W works very well in Excel and Word.

Yea, but they could very easily do an "if in table, then do
tab, else change open docs".

It was on one of the MS newsgroups that I read they had
admitted this is a bug in Word and that they are not
planning on fixing it. At least with Office 2000+ you can
have multiple documents (Word and Excel, and others I
suppose) separate from the "main" window, so you can at
least use Alt+Tab.

Kent,

Good points. I'm just use to using ctrl+tab as I don't have
that many dwgs open at a time, maybe 5 max. And I use it
everyday in several apps that don't have a "Window"
pull-down.

if there were other such pulldowns, that would indicate extremely poor
programming practice on the part of the author of the partial menu that must
have been added wouldn't it? (or heavens forbid the modifier of the maun
menu)
cheers
