Selection Cycling - Able to change "Object Type" list?

I work primarily with blocks was curious to see if there's a way to change a Selection Cycling list to show the names of a block  (or Properties > Name) instead of the Object Type.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Anonymous,

I have not seen anything that describes how this might be done but it sounds like a great idea.  Perhaps it could be an extra Subselection filter when blocks are detected.  I will move this thread to the customization forum in case some crafty person there has an idea of how one might do this.

Hello how are you.
Activate QPMODE (ctrl + shif + p)
A property window comes up when you select an object.
You can customize the number of properties.

When using the Selection Cycling, the properties window will appear.

Tell me how it was.

Excuse my English, I only speak Spanish.

I like that!  It's not as clean of a solution as I was hoping for, but I'm going to try a slightly modified workspace and see if I can get used to it.

I think it I remove my fixed PROP window for a few days and replace with a static QPMODE window to free up some space on my screen.  Unfortunately, I do most of my work on a laptop at remote locations but I'm happy to try this.

Thank you!

Hi abecker.

For me, the work area is also very important.
Here are some tips on how to work, in case it helps you.

Learn the shortcuts of the commands. Tools - customize - Edit program parameters.
There you will find the shortcuts of the commands.
You do not have to learn them all, you will only learn the commands that you use most often.

I attached an image of my work area.
Above the ribon - minimize to panel titles
Just move the mouse over it, the commands are displayed downwards.

It is not necessary to completely remove the properties palette.
It is always good to have it active.
Just anchor on the sides of the screen and make it by icon.
In this way, just move the mouse over the icon will open the palette.
For example, on the left side of my screen, anchor the visual style, Layer, and references.
On the right side, I have anchored the properties and the calculator.

At the bottom of the screen, the command bar, the float, so occupies less space.
Set it to show two lines, if it is necessary to see more lines, active - F2 to expand the command window.

QPMODE always active, and for each object I configure the properties that I really need.
For example, for line, I only have it show, color, layer and length.
For polyline, I just have it show, color, layer, length, elevation and area.
And so you will configure the properties of each object.

And finally active dynamic imput - F12
Over time you will not depend on the command bar.

I hope you there helped.
If any answer was helpful, do not forget to like or accept a solution.
Again, excuse my English.

@john.uhden Hehehe, I have a 15.6" laptop.  Anything larger and I'm going to need a bigger lap.  🙂

The main reason why I keep it clean is so my clients can see what I'm working on during the process without having to publish PDF packets, send them, wait for markups, etc.  We just work through it onsite.  So much faster!

@carlos_m_gil_p  I think we're on the same page.  Aside from a top bar with my layer and dimstyle info, I have no ribbons.  I've been using AutoCAD since 8th grade (R11), back before there were ribbons, buttons, and all of the current user interface options.  I work almost exclusively in command line and SYSVDLG is the reason why I'll never use ribbons.

Dynamic Input is a permanent fixture in my workspace, it's never turned off.  I only use the expanded command window (F2) when using our schedule generator to make sure that all of my blocks are captured; aside from that, it's off.

After half a day of using QPMODE in place of PROP, I don't even miss PROP.  Love it, love it!  I only used half of the info in PROP anyways, so being able to customize it in QPMODE is perfect.

Thanks for all your help, it's greatly appreciated!  (And you're English is fine!)
