Pinning open undocked ribbon panels

Hi everyone,

Our company is running into an issue that I haven't been able to find a solution for online.

We have a massive number of custom commands that we use and what we us most frequently changes drastically depending on what we're working on. Currently we've created custom ribbons and its working great except for one aspect. The panels are just too big. When we have the ribbon maximized (as many people use the ribbon for the default AutoCAD commands as well and want this to be an option) there are so many commands that are constantly used and thus we need to have above the slideout that the ribbon becomes enormous and it doesn't change back when you go to another tab (see screenshots below).We already have about 4 custom tabs that look like this so I was hoping there was a fix besides just splitting them out to more tabs and adding more columns.

Our fix for the people using those custom tabs currently is to undock the particular panels they are using at that time and that works great for them. To fix the expanded ribbon we wanted to just change it so that on our custom panels there are only 3 or 4 commands above the slideout but there's no way to pin undocked panels so the parts below the slideout are visible. 

Is this something anyone else has encountered and knows how to fix?
