Open Files in Folder and Run Command then close

I'm aware that there are multiple add-ins that can do this, but I was wondering if there was a way to open a bunch of files in a folder run a command on them and close them using only Lisp.  Thanks for your help

It's conceivable [maybe this is what @Anonymous's suggested links do] with the SDI System Variable set to 1 [only one drawing open at a time].  I don't think it's possible with SDI=0, because then an AutoLisp routine can't start in one drawing and continue in another.  That's why such things typically use something like SCRIPTPRO to move through the drawings in a folder, and have the Script run something within each.  But that's not an only-Lisp solution.  Is there some reason it needs to be?
