.mnu files

can someone explain to me the difference between the .mnu and .mns file? Why does AutoCAD make a .mns file off a .mnu file? they appear to serve the same function.

mnU is a template file. mnS is a stripped down version of the mnU file (no comments) and is also written to if toolbars change (added/removed buttons, etc.). The mnU file will ALWAYS stay the same unless you modify it. If you create a toolbar and then load the mnU file, you will lose that toolbar unless you put the code into the mnU file.

It's all moot now with the CUI thingy, but as far as what the difference "was," search the NG, it has been discussed a thousand times, and there isn't anything to be gained by repeating it all again.

i believe the word is mute and a lot of people are still using pre. 2006. in which case the .mnu is still very valuble, and if you're tired of the conversation, why are you posting to my thread?

...CUI thingy? Tom, feel free to not post to my threads anymore. People who use the word 'thingy' shouldn't be giving help on technical topics.

Independent research really isn't your strong suit, is it?

Had you looked up the word moot, before popping off your little flame, you might have avoided making a fool of yourself by confusing it with a completely unrelated word which is spelled and pronounced differently.

Everyone calm down.

He asked a question that was applicable to his situation. You responded by "there isn't anything to be gained by repeating it." Apparently ckveco had something to gain: knowledge.
