Linking between AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel

Hi everyone,

I want to ask for something, I'm a structural engineer, i have spent much time to create Excel sheets to design every structural concrete element manually.

And i have learned writing Auto Lisp.

I wanna create a link  between those excel sheets and my AutoCAD template i have made.

I saw some excel sheets with a button which you can click and it automatically open AutoCAD and draw the designed thing.

How can this be done? Is this a script (i mean when i select the button it seems that it runs a script).

What is the language to learn to do such thing in excel?

Thanks for all.

As far as I know, there 2 way,

From ACAD open the xls , read value and by lisp do what you need

From xls using VBA , a time ago Idig on his BVA , but did not went forward.

In my case  was as follow , the comercial sales person , no ACAD skilled , fill the values (variables) , and then by internet the xls will open a DWT, at the central offices, and get back a DWG printed has PDF, to submit to client .

I gather some samples, and there's a few samples  and YOUTUBE  searching as XLS to ACAD by VBA.

Thanks very much @devitg for your reply and for that file.

That's very useful.
