LINE WORK WITH ATTRIBUTES

We have line work that we attach attributes to and then fill in the blanks in the attribute. How can you draw the line work with the attribute( different attributes for different line work) already attached? Example: for the Line wok Center line of road we attribute data for the center line of the road...Name, type of material, width..is there a way to have the attribute attached when drawing the centerline of road?

Do you mean to select the data (name, material, width, etc.) before drawing the centerline, and then attaching the attributes as each tangent/curve is drafted? Yes, I suppose you could, but most of my road alignment techniques usually proceed by drawing the tangents and then filleting the curves. Do you wish to label each segment (thinking of a polyline) separately, or from station to station, or just one label for the entire alignment? Wouldn't Mtext be easier? That way you could have an associated leader. For the user you could prompt him for each of the blanks or even provide a dialog box to type or select the desired values, and then concatenate them with appropriate carriage returns. IOW, I would draw first and then label, on separate layers as well.
Besides, you're not going to associate attributes with centerlines without reactors. But I guess the same would be true for Mtext.
