Hello, everyone, here in the LISP Community forums!

Happy to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Lena and I am Community Manager for the Russian community, working for Autodesk for almost 9 years so far. As you can assume, I am part of global Community Team managing the forums you are active on.

I am based in Moscow, Russia. It is far. And yes, we have snow, I don’t drink vodka, but I can maybe bring you a matreshka 😊

This introduction post is just to say hello to programming world and say about a new opportunity for me to be closer to you. Starting today I am getting active on a regular basis on the LISP Forum!

I have an Inventor technical and AutoCAD CAD Management background, but I have no clue how you do the magic with coding. I did have programming classes and learned old fashioned assembler, turbo pascal, Delphi and a bit of c++,I do read the LISP code and even lead few projects at my previous positions, but it doesn't make me an expert in the industry, so, please excuse any miss understanding and don't hesitate to educate me in technical. English is my second language and I do use wrong grammar from time to time or try to translate from Russian to English word by word. I would appreciate if you kindly correct me in PM and help me to improve my skills.

So my role here is just help you to make discussions productive and clear understandable for everyone.

By saying that, I mean I will regularly check the forum to make sure that current discussion topics can be found by updating topic titles in a meaningful way and in one or another topic you might see me following up and engaging in discussions so an Accepted Solution might be marked.

Also, I am going to move the one or another topic to the correct board in case it got posted in the wrong forum.

I will also help you to use forum features to make posts visually more effective by adding attached images to the post's body. If you have any questions, send me a private message and I will show you how to use different tools on forums or refer you to the right page with information you need.

Happy to be around and also see that some Expert Elites active here, listed in the top solution authors on the right rail bar I already know or even have met in person. Definitely also happy to get to know everyone here on the LISP forum!

And I would like to be sure that every user on this forum feel free to discuss their needs and find solutions and don’t hesitate to reach out to me in PMs if you have any question about my role here.

And here is a picture of just a Russian girl in a big Autodesk world.

Thank you @ronjonp !

Well, I can't promise anything. It should go to the Community Feedback forum, so the community team aware that our users would like to change it.

We have few groups of people who can edit the post. And one of it you can participate by nominating yourself to the Expert Elite program

Good news is that we have the new nomination review round in August - no so far from now.

Well self nomination is in 🙂  Hopefully I'll be able to edit my posts at my convenience.

Do you know why this is a limitation on this forum? I contribute to a few other forums and none of them have this restriction.

@ronjonp Kudos! I hope you will be with our EE team soon! And you gonna love it!

About 30 minutes. The only thing I can do for now is share this link where our admin answered on the same question.

@lena.talkhina  Thanks for the link.

It's pretty much the industry standard some sites give a little more time some a little less. It really should never be "forever editing"

While I somewhat agree with the "never be forever editing" why not make it a 30 day rule. 30 minutes is much too short IMO.

@ronjonp Do you mind to post this idea here

It's the best way to speak up.

Don't hesitate to invite others to vote - it helps Autodesk prioritize community members needs.

Hi Lena

This was a test and it did not work !

Over at Cadtutor they have upgraded their forum, if you want an image then just Ctrl+V and its pasted in, I use paint,  clip it, and then just paste. Super fast compared to having to paint, clip, save, select camera and add a file.

While were at it Cadtutor supports previous posted attachments so stuff like Library code you have already posted can be selected. often in my code suggestions I call a library lisp so just point to that file. It save resources on your end.

Like a couple of others here the Autodesk forum is not as user friendly as others.

Why not post like AUGI, forum wish list options. I think you will be surprised.

Re the "but" like others would normally do a new post "I have updated the code in my prior post" or "I have removed code and updated please see my latest post" which is in keeping of latest version only.

I hardly had the time yet, but i will give it some thought.

Honestly I don't yet know what would be a good approach. Sadly FAQ's, forum rules & guidelines are like EULA's. Nobody cares to read them. Still there has to be a way to inform people.

Hi @Sea-Haven !

I hear you. I know there are some wishes exist for a lot of years and we are working hard to make it easier for you, guys.

Can I do the magic to wishes come true? Somewhere yes, somewhere no. But I am here to help you to use the best way to be heard.

In the case of forum wishes the best way is use Community Ideas. It is the board which was created for wish lists.

Do you would like me to pay attention to some ideas? Yes, just send me the link and I'll make our team aware.

I found out that was over proactive on this one. When I shared the link FAQ wasn't public. But it is now.

It's sad, but true. My role here is to educate the community on what we have as FAQ. You already know that we have them...someone else could read this as well. No need to rush anything.

Glad to have you here Lena! Welcome.

Sometime I will have to test your translation skills as I still use a masterful lisp program written by the late Andrey Lazebny. It needs some troubleshooting so it can be made to work with the newer object models but I continue to use it in AutoCAD 2011 to make multiple visibility parameter dynamic blocks. I did my best to translate variable names from Russian into English but I might be wrong about some of Andrey's original intentions.

Anyway - it is great to have someone looking after these forums again.

Thank you so much @rapidcad !

I am happy to help you with translation from russian. Not like I am pro but I have experience in this area.

I know that russians are very good in LISP and we have few geniuses here. I would be happy to introduce you to each other. The main LISPer in russian Expert Elite team is @kpblc2000 and I know he has a lot to share with you guys 🙂

The problem is known and not treatable: Autodesk changed something in the mechanism of dynamic blocks and visibility parameters proceeding and that code won't work in last versions of AutoCAD.
Unfortunally I don't know anyone who can modify that code and make it executable.

Thanks Lena and Aleksei. I posted the following on The Swamp about a year ago and nobody knew any more about it apparently. I was able to pinpoint where lisp returned inconsistent data (checking 2020 against 2011) but why it was inconsistent is beyond me. Maybe Andrey had found a loophole and Autodesk simply closed it.

Thanks for responding though!

Hi,

The post window does not work with Google Chrome for more than two months now for me, so I thought to bring it up for all admins to fix it if they have the willing of course.

The following quick demo demonstrates the problem how that I can't expand the window nor write anything.

@_Tharwat I've been posting here on Chrome for a long time without any problems. Maybe try resetting the browser under SETTINGS>>ADVANCED. And make sure you have the latest version.
