Introduction Lena - Community Management and Engagement on LISP forum

Hello, everyone, here in the LISP Community forums!

Happy to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Lena and I am Community Manager for the Russian community, working for Autodesk for almost 9 years so far. As you can assume, I am part of global Community Team managing the forums you are active on.

I am based in Moscow, Russia. It is far. And yes, we have snow, I don’t drink vodka, but I can maybe bring you a matreshka 😊

This introduction post is just to say hello to programming world and say about a new opportunity for me to be closer to you. Starting today I am getting active on a regular basis on the LISP Forum!

I have an Inventor technical and AutoCAD CAD Management background, but I have no clue how you do the magic with coding. I did have programming classes and learned old fashioned assembler, turbo pascal, Delphi and a bit of c++,I do read the LISP code and even lead few projects at my previous positions, but it doesn't make me an expert in the industry, so, please excuse any miss understanding and don't hesitate to educate me in technical. English is my second language and I do use wrong grammar from time to time or try to translate from Russian to English word by word. I would appreciate if you kindly correct me in PM and help me to improve my skills.

So my role here is just help you to make discussions productive and clear understandable for everyone.

By saying that, I mean I will regularly check the forum to make sure that current discussion topics can be found by updating topic titles in a meaningful way and in one or another topic you might see me following up and engaging in discussions so an Accepted Solution might be marked.

Also, I am going to move the one or another topic to the correct board in case it got posted in the wrong forum.

I will also help you to use forum features to make posts visually more effective by adding attached images to the post's body. If you have any questions, send me a private message and I will show you how to use different tools on forums or refer you to the right page with information you need.

Happy to be around and also see that some Expert Elites active here, listed in the top solution authors on the right rail bar I already know or even have met in person. Definitely also happy to get to know everyone here on the LISP forum!

And I would like to be sure that every user on this forum feel free to discuss their needs and find solutions and don’t hesitate to reach out to me in PMs if you have any question about my role here.

Posting this introduction I would also encourage you to share any thoughts how we can make this LISP forum better and comfortable to participate into.

Please, share any feedback you have here in comments.

I respect all specifics we have in the customization industry and would like to use my experience and best community practices to improve our collaboration and communication.

I would like you to know that I am already work on adding LISP to the list of languages for forum's code snippet. I know most of you are keen on see this improvement.

More solutions is what I am looking for...haha! Honestly, I am keen on making community itself, not only questions-answers-solutions. There is always personality behind the nickname and I would love to know everyone and help in different ways.

ahaha, good joke! Yes, I do such kind of posts and sometimes it looks annoying.

But I receive so much positive feedback from new members so do this on a fly. I do check every single new post and sometimes for others it looks like water flow of messages.

But seriously, let me know If I go to far with welcome posts or follow-ups and I will grant you the leader position on this. Well, no it wasn't serious 😆
But any of you are more than welcome to do the same posts if you see newbie or hungry for a solution.

It is great to see this forum has its community manager.

You can welcome a new member by sending him a welcome message to his inbox.

For a new member to this forum we need a guidance how to post a question, and that post can be pinned at the top of all posts. With most of new members we usually ask them for detailed description of the problem, with sample drawings, screenshots, or whatever is needed to find a solution. They also have to do regular checks, and provide answers to posted questions.

In this case the questions are ours. Like:

Could you be more specific? "It doesn't work" is the worst way to describe a problem.

Could you supply a sample of your code / a drawing?

So, not an FAQ, but more like guidelines.

Including something like: We are Happy to Help, Hate to be Used. For those who come here and try to get a (complex) program for free (& use it to save (& thus make) money with it)

As @roland.r71 stated in his post, forum users rarely use FAQ, and I agree with him about all. There is a lots of stuff that could be done better.

Could you by chance have some influence on changing the 30 minute post locked rule? It would be nice to edit a post when issues arise later rather than keeping flawed code in the forum.

It's a great pleasure to meet new people.
Language is also a barrier for me, but translators make our lives easier.
