Installing AutoCAD AutoLISP Ext and Running VS Code both fail

I set LISPSYS = 1, restarted AutoCAD, and then ran VLIDE (and subsequently VLISP).

I keep getting this in response to both commands:

Installing the AutoCAD AutoLISP extension. This might take a moment.
Command:
Command: AutoCAD AutoLISP extension has been installed and Visual Studio Code is starting.

However, Visual Studio Code is NOT started. (It is installed on my system and runs independently of AutoCAD).

I installed the AutoCAD AutoLISP Extension from within VS Code after several the AutoCAD failures to get it done.

Still, the only response I get from AutoCAD remains unchanged and is in the code block above.

Does anyone know why this isn't working?

Okay, I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Visual Studio Code.  Then I enabled the AutoCAD AutoLISP Extension.

The AutoCAD VLISP command opened VS Code as expected.

Old school solution to programs not working worked!
