i want to click on a line and have a leader line come up with the line dimension

is there a program or a lisp that i need to click on a line and have the distance of the line measured and shown on a movable leader line that i can move around and drop off.

click the line, click the point on the line where i want the leader to start, click where i want the leader to be dropped off, and have the text of the leader read the length of the line

something like that

I don't know of such a capability out-of-the-box, but that could probably be done with a custom command definition.  The better place to ask about a custom routine is over in the for-the-purpose Customization Forum.

That capability is included in my old LABEL_IT program.  I haven't sold any licenses since Civil 3D improved their capabilities over Land Desktop.  Maybe at my stage in life I should just give it away.
