How do I bring in xrefs attached to a page when bringing in a layout from a template?

Im writing a lisp that brings in a specific layout/page from a specific template but the xrefs are not coming in correctly (the xrefs either come in blank or with a broken reference link). Even if I try to bring the template page in manually (using the layout command), I encounter the same issue. The xrefs in the template are in paper space, if that matters. The xref works perfectly within the template, I only encounter issues when I try to move it elsewhere. Does anybody know how this could be solved? I've tried changing the xref path in the template to be absolute instead of relative and neither option helps me bring it in to a different dwg. If it matters, the xref is a pdf. Help!

If the Xref path type is 'relative' and the Xrefs exist in the same folder structure where you are saving the new file as in the template folder structure then it should work.

e.g. we usually have

'CAD' folder (w/ working dwgs)

 > 'Xrefs' sub-folder (w/ xrefs)

So, Xref paths in working drawings are ".\xrefs\xref-file.dwg"

So, in your template that would have to be the same as when you save the new drawing wherever it is you are saving it.

Clear as mud?

since you're template attaches a pdf then it doesn't import over. seems only attached/overlayed dwg will get imported
