Future of JavaScrip API

Hi,

I am just starting to develop plugin for AutoCad, and as we are doing integration with WebBased platform I am more than happy to see JavaScript API.

As we will invest a lot of time into this project I am a bit worried that this is not a "dead" project at AutoDesk as there is not a lot of post about this topic, also on Autodesk University the latest lecture is from 2015.

Does anyone know what are plans for this API in future and is there any roadmap.

Thanks,

Nejc

Bump.

I am actually very disappointed that there is no follow-up to this. The more and more I customize, it becomes apparent how truly useful this becomes from a developer standpoint. It just makes sense.

As a designer that strives for easily-implemented customization and efficiency solutions this is essentially an ideal route. There is no need for downloading an IDE, yet I can still fully customize a GUI when necessary AND even add it to a tool palette! Where AutoLisp thrives in simplicity and relatively small learning curve but with no useful and easily implemented GUI, and .NET soars with all-out customization but a higher learning curve (and a need for an IDE).. here I stand with the perfect intermediate solution.. An amazing API that does not have a huge learning curve, does not require me to use an IDE then compile then implement.. I can just hack away on Notepad, quick save, then immediately re-run and see what changes I have implemented. Plus with such a large shift in design where accessing digital data over the web, with APIs and what not, javascript is perfect for me to call this and even easily manage JSON data where AutoLisp suffers also.

What is the future of this API? I, probably among others, am hesitant to keep sliding this direction, but who could blame me? It's just so darn useful..

Best,

~DD
