Dynamic Blocks Not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

This might be a very simple solution. The attached block has (1) attribute that is centered at the top of the block and will move dynamically to always be in the center of the title bar. This block works perfectly on some machines and not on others. What is causing the block not working correctly? I am sure it is not the block, but something with the settings on the machines it does not work on.

Any thoughts?

@Anonymous Are you using the insert command or simply opening the block?

I am pretty sure a Blockreference of THAT Blockdefinition works nowhere like you want.

a) The Attributdefinition is unlocked (property of attdef)

b) "This block works perfectly on some machines and not on others"

If i am right, that wrong and you didn't test it in the same dwg, the issue should harcdware independent,

only depent of the dwg content. If dwgA works and dwgB not, there are two different blockdefinitions!

Please: Testing only with new blockreferences (command insert).

Edit you attached file: Set Attdef to locked position, save the file.

Open a dwg where it isn't working and update the block (for example command INSERT [Browse..],

test a new blockreference and/or use ATTSYNC for exist blockreferences.

I am not sure what you mean by "I am pretty sure a Blockreference of THAT Blockdefinition works nowhere like you want."

The block works just fine on most dwgs but did not work in a file that had nothing in it. There are No other old definitions of the block inside the drawing. My question is what would make an attribute not react to the restraint put on it inside the block. The attribute definition is not locked in the block. that was the first thing i checked. I did not check in the same dwg on the (2) different machines.

Currently it seems to be working on both machines, so i am mainly curious on what might be wrong with the first dwg, if the block didn't exist in the dwg and when inserted it didn't work.

The "unlocked" propertie of attdefs

>>The attribute definition is not locked in the block.

I think thats the problem.

So there are two different blockdefinitions, check the "locked position" propertie with Bedit

inside the dwg and test only with new blockreferences, command insert.

>>Currently it seems to be working on both machines,

Depent of the dwg file and the contained blockdefinition

If you inserted the attached file 'as Block' ==> The Attdef is not set to "locked position".

99% thats the problem.
