I need admin rights to write in this directory , is this the right dir ?

; warning:cannot create tmp file for DCL: "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/$vld$.dcl"

Or do I need the right rights ?

Well, you will definitely need permission to write there which you most likely don't have.

Can't you use something like this? See HERE where it goes...

(vl-filename-mktemp nil nil ".dcl")

I entered it in the lisp console :

; warning:cannot create tmp file for DCL: "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/$vld$.dcl"
_$ (vl-filename-mktemp nil nil ".dcl")
"C:\\Users\\me\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\$VL~~001.dcl"
_$
; warning:cannot create tmp file for DCL: "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/$vld$.dcl"
_$

and in the command line to.

Do you have the rights to edit in the AutoCad version directory ?

maybe reinstall acade 2022

This is with the command to preview the DCL.  🙂

@Wheelie22

Perhaps it's a TRUSTEDPATH roadblock.

If you have or know of a trusted path, you can specify it for the 2nd nil, eg.

(vl-filename-mktemp nil "C:\\MyTrustedFolder" ".dcl")

No.

_$
_$ (vl-filename-mktemp nil "d:\-=Data=-\Documents\Acade 2022\temp\" ".dcl")
; error: misplaced dot on input
_$ (vl-filename-mktemp nil "d:\-=Data=-\Documents\Acade 2022\temp" ".dcl")
"C:\\Users\\me\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\$VL~~001.dcl"
_$
; warning:cannot create tmp file for DCL: "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/$vld$.dcl"
_$
_$

This vl-filename-mktemp does not change the DLC tmp file location.

Reinstall is the best option, like W.

Is there a AutoCad for Linux ?

@Wheelie22

Maybe a reinstall is in order.

I had no problem either way...

Command: (vl-filename-mktemp nil nil ".txt")
"C:\\Users\\juhden\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\$VL~~001.txt"

Command: (vl-filename-mktemp nil "c:\\custom" ".txt")
"c:\\custom\\$VL~~002.txt"

But I did use a double backslash.

Hello.

for many CAD/s, you can use this my local function named "str_pathtemp"

;;  .--/|
;;o~ "   `.. - - - - .
;; `~~\                `.
;;     `.   }    {    /\|
;;       \  |~- -~\   |
;;       || |     >> /
;;\\|/   ||_|    ;;rem:_/        \|/
;;                      \|;;rem:
;;Inf: ZwCad da eroare la getenv("TEMP") result=nil
;;Out:rr:string=("".get temporally directory)(nil.none)

i force the user to edit-normal. You see the normal-version upload.txt

You see how to run here

Command: (str_pathtemp)
"C:/DOCUME~1/adruianb/LOCALS~1/Temp/"

Command: (strcat (str_pathtemp) (rtos (getvar "CDATE") 2 12))
"C:/DOCUME~1/adruianb/LOCALS~1/Temp/20220820.00394077"

You can reset where the temp files are written to type Config Files and set your Temporary directory to one you have. I have a D:\Acadtemp and its suprising how much junk ends up in there.

Are you using some kind of folder mapping or folder mirroring/duplication? (the original file path looks fine, only the warning mentions a strange path)

Do you have the rights to edit in the AutoCad version directory ?

C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD  "your version"

Maybe it's a rights thing.

I solved it creating manually an empty file with the name $vld$.dcl, then copy it into that default folder (i.e. "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2022/") and assigning all right only to this file. It is, edit its Properties > Security and Add "Users" in the Group or user names list (it is: Edit... > Add... > type 'users' in the 'Enter the object names' then press 'Check Names...', select the result then click 'OK'), then assign all rights of all users in the list.

That works and won't be necessary to change the rights to all folder.
