How to get the name of a block which is saved in INSNAME as default name in the block command? In the block name field the text field for the block name is empty and how smart it would be, that the name of the last inserted block would be placed here (I use no ribbons or palette in my GUI)

I doubt it's possible to interfere with the regular BLOCK command. But there are plugins for quickly creating blocks with a template name and number. Maybe this will suit you? For example AVC Assembly.

Not a good idea because block creation dialogue also for creating new blocks so you don’t want to accidentally overwrite existing block. The default insname is better used for default classic insert dialog

At first I had a longer text, but some authentication problem deleted my text. In my work in  most cases I edit existing blocks. I think for most CAD-Workers the overwriting of blocks is not a big deal, most of them has different routines to restore older drawing states so that they also are able to find the accidentially overwritten blocks. Alternatively Autodesk could invent an option field like "last inserted blog" or similar in the block creation dialog. My way until now is a shortkey in the acad.pgp which give me back the value of the INSNAME variable.

Sounds good. As I mostly work with similar block names a template is very useful. I have "Window-001", "Window-002" and so on. I´ll give it a try. Thank you very much! Courious, that I searched a long time for a LISP but didnt´t find that tool. When I read what the tool can do I wondered why these features ar not part of the AutoCAD main program, as many other plugins too.
