AutoCad 2019 - Vlisp editor non-functional

I have just updated to AutoCad 2019, and the Vlisp editor seems to be non-functional.

Most of the icons seem to be grayed out, and if I try to search on a text string, I get the white circle with a red line through it, everything locks up, and I have to use Task Manager to close AutoCad entirely.

I find myself reverting back to good old AutoCad 2015 to make changes!

Any ideas?

thanks

@Anonymous hi,

uninstall AutoCAD 2019 (use autodesk uninstall tool and careful not to harm AutoCAD 2015) do a restart and install AutoCAD 2019 again + install all the updates from Autodesk Desktop App

Thanks for this reply. My first reaction was bewilderment to be honest. The work involved to uninstall the product and reinstall it along with getting all of my customization back up and running, far outweighs the fallback of updating lisp files in the old environment. Seriously, the software should just work properly.

If pressing the ESC button makes VLIDE otherwise normally functioning, your problem might be just the Find dialog opening outside your screen.

AutoCAD has this idiotic user interface behaviour, where the pop-up dialogs open in the same screen location as the last time they were opened.

On a static computer this is comfortable, but if your screen setup changes, for example undocking a laptop from a multi-screen workplace, this is stupid as it doesn't bother to check whether that location is visible in the current setup.
