auto update text within dynamic block

Not sure if this is possible so perhaps someone would be able to clarify...

Would like to insert a block indicating a trial hole location that has a userdefined prefix and iteratively counts based on the number of successive inserts.

The userdefined prefix would be an abrreviation of the project name and each block would have text slightly offset which would read ABC-01, then inserting additional blocks the prefix would be retained and the number would increase with each insertion ie ABC-02, ABC-03 and so on...

Perhaps it could only be achieved with the LISPs or combination of dynamic blocks and LISPs but if someone could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Add a field within an attribute definition. Command ATTDEF.

Tried this approach initially but couldnt get it to work, after a little research found someone with a similar problem and 'attsync' fixed it.

Thanks for your help

You shouldn't have to use attsync, is your data external? If it's external it's understandable. At the most I only have to do RE or REGEN with my layout. Glad to see your problem was resolved anyway, you should probably mark your attsync as a solution also.
