My uneducated guess is one is the interface(virtual) and the other the
implementation (concrete)
therefore in your code you *could* dim as either and it will appear to work
the same
(assuming the implementation doesn't contain additional methods not found in
the interface)
in practice i think it's customary to Dim as AcadLayer
etc
