Ucase??

Anonymous

I have a little program that runs fine for me, but two other
people have tried it and it hangs on this line

COLUMN.Name = UCase(COLUMN.Name)

They say it is highlighting the Ucase when it hangs. Ucase
appears to be a standard VBA function so does anyone have any
ideas why it might hang for some and not others on this?

I'm not sure but ucase returns a variant and ucase$ returns a string.
Could it be that COLUMN.Name only accepts strings?

Kent,

Instead of using

COLUMN.Name = UCase(COLUMN.Name)

use this

COLUMN.Name =VBA>.UCase(COLUMN.Name)

Hi

Is the > a typo?? when I add it I get a invalid or unqualified reference.
What does the VBA do, I can't find anything in the help explaining it.

Unfortunately the program runs fine for me, and the people that it doesn't
work for aren't real quick about trying things so I don't yet know if this
fixed it or not.

Hiya,

Is the COLUMN object a control on a userform? If so... check the users machine to make sure the control is actually present.

I have found that on some machines, a control can get corrupted and if its not present, you will get similar errors in standard VBA functions.

Hope this helps!

Sorry Micah for the email, wrong button again!!!

Hi

No it isn't a user form control, it is a Mechanical Desktop part list column
definition.

Dim COLUMN As McadColumnDefinition

I wish I could get it to fail on my machine so I could try a couple of
things. Anybody running MDT and want to do a couple of quick tests on it??

Hi phix

they say it says

Compile error: Can't find project or library. (as displayed in
dialogue box)

The VBA debugger screen displays and highlights "UCase" in the
following line in the program:

Hi Kent,

If thats the message they are getting then it is definitely a missing type library. Is that reference to the COLUMN object the first reference the code hits to an MCad object?

This has nothing to do with UCase I would say. Try the things I mentioned in my email, that should work.

No it is closer to the end of the code than the begining. There are lots of
other calls to the MCad objects before it.

I am hoping to get someone to try it tonight. Thanks for all your help.
