Hi - I am looking to find someone that can create a routine or automation tool of some type that can solve this problem for me.
I am with a land development company, here is the problem I am having that requires automation:
- one base cad file of an entire residential subdivision (file-A.dwg).
- File-A.dwg has several other base files xref'd into it (files B, C, D and E).
- I am often required to wblock out only specific sites into their own file and send it to an architect, engineer, or various consultants.
- you can see the issue...I need all of the information from the File-A and all associated xref's but cannot send the entire data set to the consultant for only one site (section) of the residential subdivision.
Here is what I want to a tool to do.
- I draw a box or polyline around the site I need wblocked,
- the tool asks me a file name.
- the tool then clips each xref's to the boundary
- new file created only contains the data located within the boundary and includes all of the xref's data clipped to the same boundary.
This seems like a big ask. I am looking to find a programmer that can help us with this for a reasonable fee.
