Max

Just quickly checked it out. Like how they comment code examples makes it easy to follow. Not just for the new.

Thanks

The word (rumor) was that VBDesign didn't generate the revenue that Randell Rath wanted to make so people expecting something were dropped like a hot rock.

Other claims (rumors) were that because contributions were not given a less than appriciative letter went out and the site was shutdown regardless of all the future claims that would be supplied by the site.

I never received a good answer from Randell but reveiced more of a ramble of displeased history. He did indicate that he had a previous relationship with AutoDesk doing training or something but that relationship died for reasons that he said were AutoDesks fault.

Someone has posted here before about their letter but I doubt the real reason will ever surface.

I think AfraLisp could give you better insight because if you remember Kenney and Randell started preaching together on VBDesign and it was at that time that they announced AfraLisp was going away and content would be available on VBDesign. Other sites disappeared with their content only available on VBDesign and those site contents have also returned since the demise of VBDesign.

If you recall VBDesign at one time had multiple newsletters besides A.C.A.D and all those died without explanation while some were newsletters were announced but never delivered.

I think I'd forget about VBDesign and apprciate AfraLisp just for their effort

Did anybody ever receive a polite/correct/coherent response from Randell?
I know I didn't.

He turned the site into a niche club with his 'You can only post a question
if you contribute an answer' policy.
How was that supposed help newcomers?

I got the impression he wanted his back slapped every five minutes & when it
didn't happen he took his ball away.

Was it my imagination or did he have a big chip on his shoulder?

There are many better sites for newbies to start such as Afralisp. It's good
to see it back.

No, I didn't and maybe he burned a few bridges, but honestly, I don't know
how he kept it going for as long as he did. He put a lot into it and
probably got very little out of it.
