Since our company has started using Vault to manage our data, we have been trying to move all our data into it. That includes pictures of the custom products we make for later service and warranty requirements. One of the biggest complaints that I get from the day to day use of vault is that it doesn't really accommodate fast/ shuffle thru workflows like windows photo viewer. Once they had gotten to a specific folder or search for they could quickly shuffle thru all the photos. With customer demands ever increasing (especially when their equipment is down) our Technical Service groups speed is essential.
Vault currently requires that you click on the individual photo, then in order to zoom you must go to the preview and then click on the picture to "update" it. It does not save the update, so when you go to the next photo you have to start the process over. We do not want to exclude this information from vault as it is much simpler to have a one stop repository for all information to a given machine. We used to have all the information separated by group and that led to many communication issues.
I've included a quick pic with a toolbar overlaid to give you an idea of what type of functionality we are looking for. As you can see in the pic, we have already setup seeing the thumbnail in the main panel and the pictures have there own folder within the specific job folder. If there are any other ideas or better workflow that could be suggested, I would appreciate it.
