Update check between model and drawing

Update check between model and drawing

At the moment there is no possibility to check if the Inventor drawing is updated with its model´s latest (geometric) version.

It would be nice to have any flag, where you can see, if the drawing is, so to say, fully updated.

In certain cases, somebody is updating the model and forgets to update the drawing. In other words it should be checked, may during changing the state to released. Customizable of course in the life cycles.

Note: Check over the check in date is not possible, because on the one hand the model is newer, on the other hand the drawing is newer, but not opened in Inventor. Could happen during state change.

Please provide any possibility to check this situation.

Thanks for posting the idea.

If a drawing is associated with multiple models, which model should cause this flag to be active?

That is a good question.

I suggest, if one model is (geometrical) outdated on the drawing, the drawing flag should show this. Except the model is released. Either the drawing is released, no flag is needed.

In general the flag would be nice before releasing the drawing to be sure it is up to date.

@ihayesjr I would think that any out-of-date model would trigger this flag for any drawing in Vault.

It would be helpful to know which model is out-of-date for a multi-model drawing.  The fix is to checkout, open, update and check-in the drawing, so knowing which model is out-of-date may not be critical.

@ErhardKlamminger and @swalton

Thank you for your feedback.

It would require that Vault has Inventor open each associated drawing to see if there are changes in the geometry that affects what is showing in the drawing. I think this is a good request but would cause a big performance hit on both Vault and Inventor.
