We would like the ability to assign a unique ID to every BoM line within a multi-level Item Assembly. The ID should stay with that line even when there is update to the design (e.g. the line changes its position within the BoM). This improvement (unique ID) would enable a much smoother and efficient BoM update to flow through to the wider business ERP system - which has additional data on the items such as cost, procurement, inventory location etc. The ERP system would be able to re-organise the BoM (from the export) and also keep the additional data with each line, if there was a unique ID always associated with that line.
Using the new BoM Line property set-up in V2017, we can manually apply IDs, but the Vault database seems to be limited in that it always repeats ID's in certain situations, for example if a sub-assembly is called up in two different positions.
