Tree structure controllable

Tree structure controllable

I didn't find this in the ideastation yet, so I'll add this.

We came across an annoying feature in certain tree structures within Vault.

For instance when you open the attachements in the 'Uses' tab of a masterfile, you get a giant list of all files under that file.

I asked this question on the forum, but it was seemingly impossible to controle the behaviour of the tree structure without having to result to programming...

It would be a usefull feature if you can choose wether the tree structure is open as standard or closed as standard.

At this time it's always open... And that means a lot of work when you are trying to get a good overview of the structure.

As you can see, all the files are open... So we would have to manually close each an everyone to get a good overview.

It's would be so much easier to have a function where you can choose if the structure appears open or closed like this:

If you have noticed this problem to it would be great to have your support.

Thank you!

There had been some discussion in the recent past about changing the behavior of the Uses and Where Used tabs to only open the first level.  It is equally irritating to go to the Where Used tab and have to click to find that there are no parents to that file.  It would be better to open the first level only.

Also, when a view rebuilds, it should return to the same state it was in.

That is, if I collapse a bunch of levels to find one of the assemblies that I want to open, then open that assembly, the view shouldn't revert back to the default. It should stay how I set it.

I'd like to be able to expand each level of the tree structure independantly in USES

I'd also like to be able to GO BACK or UNDO a GO TO FOLDER. When I'm looking for something and I go the wrong route, I'd like to be able to back up a few steps rather than starting my search all over again.

For pdecker - consider the blue 'Back' arrow usually in the upper-left hand corner of the vault.  That should take you to the previous window.

Thanks,
Mark

With Vault 2018 the tabs are collapsed by default.
