Support insert xref in AutoCAD with drag & drop from VAULT

Hello,

it would be a great function, if directly from the VAULT could insert a file into AutoCAD by xref.

If a dwg file is inserted as an xref by drag & drop in AutoCAD, it should be set in to the world coordinate system at the origin 0,0,0 with the scaling of 1.

A comparable function is already available in AutoCAD in the project navigator.

This functionality would greatly simplify working with xrefs.

So far you have to get the file from the VAULT. Before the xref is inserted, the world coordinate system must be changed. Then you have to call the function "insert xref" in the xref manager and search the retrieved file in the local directory and select it. The insertion point must be set to 0,0,0 and the scaling should be set to 1.

You don't use the 'Attach from Vault' option within AutoCAD?

No, I don't know this Funktion.

This is good, but drag & drop will be nice.

Not sure that will happen, as AutoCAD doesn't currently have this option.

If you drag-n-drop with AutoCAD only, the DWG that is dragged in is inserted as a block.

In AutoCAD is drag & drop possible if you use the Projectnavigator. By using the projectnavigator it is possible to drag a dwg file and drop it in the open drawing. The inserted file is connected as a xref. Further the connected file will inserted at the origin in the world coodinate System with no Rotation.

This will be a very good Thing in combination with vault.

In the new Version VAULT 2018 there is a new Funktion "Insert to CAD".

Does this work with AutoCAD dwg files as well?

That would be the first step in the right direction.
How (rotation) and where (insert point) will be the xref inserted?
