STEP & DXF PUBLISH IN VAULT AS DWF WORKFLOW

STEP & DXF PUBLISH IN VAULT AS DWF WORKFLOW

Hi sirs,

It could be interesting to add to job processor to be able to publish STEP and DXF file as controlled attachment to a file. Like DWF process.

Thanks,

if you have an .IPT in the vault which is not local on your PC it is not possible to create a step file.

would be great to be able to export to CAD formats from the vault without  having to create a local copy of the file on your pc.

For this, would you expect the user to have a copy of some CAD software (ie Inventor or AutoCAD etc) installed or would this be a function of Vault itself?

The publish functionality for PDF files that was implemented into Vault 2018 works great.

Would it be possible to implement the same publish options for neutral cad formats like STEP, DXF, IGES etc?

Hi Sirs,

For your information, we are now managing it with powerjobs of CoolOrange. It is not expensive and open the vault world for non-programmer guys.

Thanks,

And flat pattern dxf from sheet metal parts.

Just like the recently added PDF generation to released files in Vault. I would like to see .stp and .dxf exports to files that are changed to released state. This would be very helpful. We deal with a lot of outside vendors that require .stp or dxf files to fabricate our parts. I'm sure there are several other companies out there that would love this feature.

Thanks for posting the idea. This is possible with custom code but it is not currently on our roadmap.

Hi,
I use Vault Professionnal and Inventor since the 2012 release.
For the manufacture of the parts we design, our subcontractors regularly ask us for files in dxf and/or step formats.
The problem in order to do that is, i must open each file and translate it in dxf or step format before send it to my subcontractor, and when you have several hundred of parts, it takes a long long time!!!

Furthermore, when you modify a part or drawing, you must not forget to update the files before send them to fabrication.
Do you think it will be possible to generate this files automatically to a local folder when the files are validated like the auto publish pdf files for example.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

It would be highly beneficial with Vault could have the ability to export a .stp file of a model when the life cycle is set to Released. Vault can export PDF's, why not .stp files also?

Hi all,

STP, XT and more are much needed by many manufactures who use Vault.

It can save hours from the engineer that now are using Task schedule or ilogic code.

Please reconsider and put it on the road map. We need STP files while switching to Release state.

Thanks

You have created a pdf job how about a dxf and dwg job as some suppliers need these for laser cutting etc we would also need to select a year version as well as we usually have to export to 2000 dwg's.

Using the vault rev block we have to check it in release the drawing, wait for the job server to up date, reopen the idw xport to dwg then add it to the vault which now opens autocad so you can send it to the vault. so it now takes more time and effort to release a drawing than vault basic ever did. as a dwg is autodesks native files we assumed it would be a standard inclusion to the vault job types. The programming of jobs isn't something the most users do or have access to and rely on others for add ins.

As @Anonymous says, "And flat pattern dxf from sheet metal parts."  This is something we need added to the Inventor Server.

Thanks.
