Move files and include dependants

Move files and include dependants

If you move an assembly/drawing in Vault to another folder, there should be an option to collect and move dependant files (uses) along with the move.  Currently a user needs to manually find (which isn't easy) all dependant files of a parent and move them separately to the destination folder.

An option to move all or no dependants with the parent should be available.

This idea is 10 years old and is STILL not implemented. Come on Autodesk, sort it out.

The lack of this functionality in Autodesk Vault is embarrassingly behind curve. It results in frustration, confusion,  and lost productivity for our Autodesk software users on a regular basis.

Please resolve this!

How is this not a thing already. Come on, Autodesk.

This topic pops up about once a month and every time I think "this would be so easy to implement", but then started to think of all the failure modes.  What about library files? Content Center Hardware?  It'll need to be something similar to 'Design Copy' but instead a 'Design Move'.

It seems pretty intuitive and obvious to me that Library and Content Center files would stay put. Are there other failure modes?

But yes, a "Design Move" interface would make it clear where everything is going.

Hello

Here, in the Vault 2024 program, I show that there is no function for moving the assembly and child files. It is also necessary to take into account, if this feature appears, that some files as part of this assembly may be library files.
We are subscribers of Autodesk products and we have the impression that Autodesk is not going to develop its products! This feature was requested 10 years ago and you didn’t have enough strength, money and time to implement it??? Your competitors have had these functions for a long time and are moving forward. You guys are stuck in the distant past, your competitors in CAD and PDM have surpassed you in the functionality and usability of their products. Looks like you're saving ideas.
In conclusion, I will say that if Autodesk does not improve the products, we will refuse them!

We would have left Autodesk products a few years ago if not for all the existing models we have that are in Inventor format.

It's pretty sad when "vendorlock" appears to be the key customer retention strategy.

I agree. I can't believe AutoDesk would have all this input and yet not use any of it. They are truly falling behind.

Few months shy for this request's 10 year anniversary.   I see the ECO feature has an "include related files" when add files, but cant apply the same to move command?  If this isn't going to be done or even considered, can we just get a "We're not doing it" from Autodesk?

Can't believe it's been 10 years since I put this request in.  Vault is a data management product and this is a fundamental data management feature, I'm staggered this still isn't possible.

Can't agree more. The ability to move a top assembly along with all its constituents is a must. Surely this should be added by now!
