More customers are considering how to access the Vault outside of their domain and access it remotely. One option is to use VPN. By default Vault Server uses port 80 which carries risks when exposed externally. The only supported way to change the port that Vault Server uses, is to uninstall it and reinstall it. (See "Installing Vault so that it uses a different port and website than Port 80 and the Default Web Site")
Most customers are not happy with uninstalling and reinstalling Vault Server. It is possible to change the port without uninstalling and reinstalling the software. However, the process involves manually editing configuration files and making changes through IIS Manager. Autodesk Supports experience is changing the port in place like this is error prone, time consuming and costly.
The wish is to consider new ways to streamline and automate the process of changing the Vault Servers port, without having to:-
A) manually edit config files and reconfigure IIS, or,
B) uninstall and reinstall the software.
