GET FILE - Lock comand

GET FILE - Lock comand

I suggest adding a categorical lock option GET file.

This can be accomplished by:

  1. adding a new "Roles and Permission" Viewer (Document Consumer without "Vault Get Options") All Vault version /01.png/
  2. to the life cycle definition add a fourth option GET (Read, Modify, Delete, Get) (AVW, AVP, AVO) /02.png/
  3. and Thin Client restricted download of all files (not only without visualization appendix)Some companies' security policies require to disable the ability to download and copy files, and this can not be done through Vault.

Some companies' security policies require to disable the ability to download and copy files, and this can not be done through Vault.

Sometimes the clients for whom projects are created also have security requests for the DM system against the ability of some users to download files.

Thanks for posting your idea. If the user is unable to "Get" the file how will they be able to "Read" the file in the clients?  Would it be just the ability to see the file in the Preview tab or in the web browser? Also, can you give an example of this users personna?

Yes, it would be a user who could use only the preview files (dwf or pdf).

In my department, we run DWF's and PDF's of the assemblies and drawings in Vault.  My dept does not, however have security access to certain upper level drawings.  The problem arises when we are asked to search a drawing number, and Vault only shows "There are no items to show in this view."  Not realizing that it is an inaccessible drawing, I cannot tell if the requester has a number wrong, or if it's something I just cannot see, and it creates a hassle.

Could we have an option for Vault that, when an inaccessible drawing is searched, something comes up, whether the drawing number is greyed out or a popup of some sort, just something telling me "yes this drawing exists, but you cannot access it"?  That way I can quickly get someone with clearance to get the information I need to the requester much for efficiently and with much less confusion.

Does this answer the request to lock a file within in a division. We have files locked to divisions. However anyone in a particular division can edit any file assigned to that division. Need to be able to lock editing files within division to only assigned users without need for super user intervention, however any user may obtain a copy.

@mschindler-mum Thanks for reaching out.

While both requests can be addressed with the same solution, there are different.

Non released Native cad files only have a blurred image in the thin client thus restricting the viewing of non released file, the download option defeats the object of this by allowing the download of any file in any state. Can the thin client have the download option disabled for files that are not released.
