Enforce Comment on Check In

It would be great if we could have an option for the Vault Addin, to enforce (or not enforce) users to add a comment on Check In. At the moment the Comment box appears on Check In, but it doesn't matter if you put something in it or not.

We have customers who would like this to be populated every time, to help provide a meaningful audit trail for the file.

You can enforce this by using Vault Data Standard inside of Inventor.

Hi @ihayesjr thanks for your feedback, I was unaware this is something you can do in Vault Data Standards, so will investigate further. However, I am surprised this is not a standard setting within Vault itself, or perhaps part of the Lifecycle controls.

I too would like to see this in the out of the box Vault (all flavours).

I have tried doing this using Data Standards and so far not achieved what you have described. Not even close.

Yes, an out of the box option would be very very helpful.  We have not deployed Data Standard yet but also know that you can disable Data Standard in both Inventor and AutoCAD.

It would be best if we could enforce this from a Vault level.

@ihayesjr do you have a link to the documentation for this set up in data standards? It's clear how to enforce this on initial check-in, but not on all subsequent check-ins. The first checking comment is always the same in our work flow "initial Check-in" but change tracking is the major problem Epically in designs that are sitting in development or prototype workflows where there is no ECO process.
