In 2016 and prior versions you could drag and drop into Inventor IAM even it gives you the "NO" symbol. Not sure on 2017.
The issue is that it shows a TEMP path for the file you drug into the IAM, so when open the IAM on another PC it can't find the file cause it's looking in a TEMP file location.
This comes into play when doing a copy design in vault then want to drag the new part(s) into an open iam. Kind of silly to have to go to IV and do a place from Vault and search for the file when it's already found in the instance of Vault that's running.
You can do this in 2017. In Vault, right-clcik on the part and choose "Insert into Cad" ... then go to Inventor and pick where you want it to be.
The only thing I dont like about this new tool, is that it does not place the new part in the correct location in the workspace. Hopefully this can be resolved in the near future.
