Vault Thin Client and inventor model state visualization

Hi,

We are working right now to integrate Vault in our company where we are using inventor for a lot of time now. Seeing the advantages of the model state with the products that we develop, we are trying to find out how it is integrated inside Vault.

Right now, we have our basic product with 4 variations (with additional options) made in model states, which result in one .iam and 5 dxf, one being the dxf of the master and the four others being the dxf of the variations. My question is, with the "view" functionality in Vault and in the thin client, is it possible to view the assemblies of the model states or we are only stuck to visualize the dxf? Maybe I would have seen a menu where we select the master and we could see the model states to select, since all the parts are part of the master and the model state basically suppress all the parts it doesn't need.

You will not be able to select the different model states by viewing the assembly or part in the Thin Client.

You should consider installing Inventor and using it as Read-Only for your CAD consumers that may need to see model states. That or you are really stuck with one view per export in shared views, DXF, DWF, or Navisworks exports.

That is one of the short comings to model states that I discovered as well. I use iAssemblies when I need to have different members viewable in the vault thin client. However, iAssemblies come with their own problems...

Does anyone know if Autodesk plans on adding the ability to view the individual model state members in the vault thin client? I'm sure model states will eventually phase out iParts/iAssemblies so I would imagine they would implement more features as they move along with it.
