Vault Basic 2016 on Windows Home Server 2011

Good morning,

I'm having trouble getting vault onto my windows home server 2011.  I feel like I've exhausted all of the IIS settings and I have service pack 1 for Windows Home server 2008 R2 installed.  So, when I'm trying to get it to install, it, it won't get past the opening screen because I don't have "windows home server 2008 R2 SP2" installed.

For some reason, windows home server 2008 R2 SP2 won't install on my Windows home server 2011 copy, which I find strange since SP1 would install fine.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a solution?

are you running Home Server 2011 or 2008 R2?

that service pack you are trying to install is for Home Server 2008 R2 not 2011

I'll take some screenshots when I'm at my server.  I am running Windows Home Server 2011 but, windows update is putting Server 2008 R2 updates on it.  I didn't force the updates onto it, it automatically updated it that way through the windows update utility.

The screenshots will show what I'm talking about and it's also why it's a bit confusing.  To add to that, when I'm trying to install Vault, it doesn't show what is needed for server 2011, or if Vault can be installed on it.

vault 2016 system requirements are here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/vault-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

it doesn't mention Home Server

the only server OSs it supports is Server 2012 R2 or 2012

I found this once upon a time:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/vault-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

Which looks like Vault 2015 works on Server 2011.  And, that would mean that I need to run Inventor 2015 because Vault 2015 isn't compatible with Vault 2016... correct?

Thanks for the help!

I would think since Windows Home server was built around Server 2008 and the last version of Vault to support Windows Server 2008 was 2015 you need to either upgrade your server OS or as you stated run Vault 2015 and Inventor 2015.

Well I might give up trying to force it to work because it probably never will but, 2 things:

- Turns out Im trying to install Valut 2017 ... DERP.

- Check out the pictures.

According to the install screen, 2008 should work... And according to my updates, 2008 updates are going onto my computer.

But, if I'm forced to go to Vault 2015, I will no longer be able to run Inventor 2017?  Unless I just run it locally on my main computer, and scrap the idea of using my laptop as well...
