Unknown status in Autodesk Vault 2018

Hello,

I have a problem with check in my assembly. Problem did come when we did change to new laptop and same time we did change from 2017 to 2018 version.

So we did copy folder Vault/projects from old laptop to new one. (didn't check, or we didn't care of yellow mark on then). Later I have made lot of changes to assembly and tried to check it in but all other will go, except main assembly. 

For one of other assembly I did just take get latest, and that did solve problem, but for this one it's not possible... Too much work will destroy if I do it. So how can I solve this situation?

Can you check if the assembly file is checked out ?

You can refer to the tool-tip to know more details on the file status, which can give more hint about what needs to be done.

And do you get any error while check-in? If yes what is the error?

Yes, it has been checked out. As I did write, we did copy all files from old laptop to new, and that was already checked out on old laptop. If I check that from Vault, it has now same exclamation mark as seen in Inventor.

But if I check it out now (or take get latest), I will lose all my changes what I have made on my laptop? On Vault has now very old file, doesn't want use that... So some how I should get new from my laptop to Vault, but how I can do that?

All other files except that main assembly is updated...

And no any error on check in. But still unknown status (as you see, check in is grayed out now)

From the image I see that the file is not checked out. So you can still check out - without getting the latest. That will help you to keep the local files. And then try check-in.

So how do you check out a file without overwriting the latest? We performed a 2014 to 2019 upgrade that took about a week, but allowed our users to work on the old 2014 Vault server during that time but kept track of the files they worked on.

If we check out the file from the 2019 server it overwrites the local file even if the local file is open in Inventor 2019. The file open in memory keeps the new changes but then you can't save it over the rewritten file that contains the old data (the new 2019 server has file versions that were backed up over a week ago.)

One workaround we have found, is finding the good files in the Oldversions folder, restoring it, and then checking it into the 2019 server. A better one is moving a batch of good files out of the project, checking out the old files from 2019 server, moving the good files back into the project (overwriting the old files), and then checking them back into the 2019 server.
