Saved Search Location?

In Vault 16 & 17, saved searches were stored in
C:\Users\JohnDoe\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_6_2017\eng00\Vaults\Vault\Searches

Where are they in Vault 18?

Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the Vault forum!

I just checked my comptuer and I was able to find the saved searches at:

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_6_2017\<VaultServerName>\Vaults\Vault\Searches

Can you retest by making a new saved search and check this location, do you see the saved files? If it still does not work, please private message me your phone number and some times you are available to do a screen share and look at this.

When I create a saved search in V `18, it shows up in C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_6_2017\eng00\Vaults\Vault\Searches along with my V `17 searches. I was expecting to find a Services_Security_1_6_2018 folder.

Since my V `18 searches are in the V `17 folder, is it safe to assume that V `18 will "remember" the searches created in V `17? Last year I had to write a batch file to copy all the V `16 searches into the V `17 search folder.

At the moment we only have V `18 on our test server (xeng00), so the path is different. When installed on our main server, the path will be the same. Hopefully we won't need the batch file this year?

I did some testing and when upgrading the Vault Client the Vault Saved searches do not show up. I also check the different versions to see where it saves the files. I suspect you will need to use a .bat file to copy the saved search files to the next version file location. Also, remember if the server name or vault name changes you will need to make sure to put it in the right folder.

Vault 2018:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_6_2017\\Vaults\\Searches

Vault 2017:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_2_3_2016\\Vaults\\Searches

Vault 2016:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_22_2015\\Vaults\\Searches

Vault 2015:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_22_2014\\Vaults\\Searches

I wish I had better news for you. Please let me know what happens once you update.

Since this is not a Vault feature, please post your idea in the Vault Idea Station to request the saved searches get automatically added to the Vault Client when installing the next version of the Vault Client.
