Questions Re: Vault Pro Licensing & Thin Client

Hello,

Thanks in advance for your time.

My organization is considering using Vault Pro. Currently there are 4 designers using Inventor which produce drawings for manufacture over seas.

The pricing for Vault Pro is about as clear as mud. I have a couple questions.

1. Does each version of Inventor require its own individual Vault Pro license, or does one license support multiple Inventor licenses?

2. Does the Thin client require a license as well? For example, the manufacturer would want the Thin Client to view and make quick change requests, as would our various sales people, do they all require paid licenses for Thin Client?

Thanks again for any help

1. No if you subscribe to vault pro you get access to previous versions

2. Read this: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/vault-thin-client-...

Each user would require a license to access Vault.  In your case 4 Licenses of Vault Professional.

With the Vault Professional subscription you would also get Vault Thin Client.

As a side note, Vault Professional is more than just the local install on the workstations.  You would also need to install the Data Management Server, which is included with your subscription.

I find this article a help in sorting out what needs to be done.

Thanks,

Thanks for your very helpful answer. Can the Thin Client be used by non-vault and non-CAD users? We have a number of sales people on the road who would require it, but don't use any AutoDesk apps. The sales people would want to be able to view parts/drawings/assemblies and be able to mark-up and request change orders.

Thanks again for your time.
